“First time buyers would invest abroad”

According to the Moneycorp, 59% of all first time buyers would buy their first property abroad if they were priced out of the UK housing market.

The survey of more than 2,000 adults, undertaken by 72Point, found that Spain is the number 1 choice, closely followed by France – with Italy, Bulgaria and Cyprus also high on the list.

While the coast is the most popular location for First Time Buyers, more than the mere investment or lifestyle choice dictates the choice of area. Almost one in 10 people are prepared to commute from overseas to get to their UK place of work.

A further poll conducted by the Property Investor Show has revealed that 80% of people questioned would consider commuting to work from abroad just to attain a better lifestyle.

The lower cost of property, in places like Spain, compared to the UK as well as cheap flights, are now allowing more and more Brits to commute from Europe to the UK on a regular basis.

With the increase in easy communications they can be connected to the office by e-mail and telephone whilst enjoying the sunny climate and relaxing by the pool.”
